The
Scouts headquarters is situated on around a third of an acre
on the south west corner of the Atkinson Morley's
Hospital open land. The Group
has recently The HQ site is the base for around 130 scouts, leaders and helpers. It is one of the largest and most active groups in the district and the site is essential to its success. The group has three beaver colonies for boys aged 6 to 8, three cub packs for boys aged 8 to 10 and a scout troop for boys aged 10 to 14. The site is also home to the Raynes Park Explorer Scout Unit for young people aged 14 to 18. A couple of years ago a group of these young people and leaders joined others from the District on an expedition to Kenya. They raised the funds to build a maternity unit at a small hospital and spent most of their time in Kenya helping to build it. A similar expedition is planned for next summer. The younger Scouts enjoy summer camps slightly closer to home! All of the sections meet weekly and the younger ones enjoy organised games, craftwork, sports and some badge work. The older ones do badge work, receive training in outdoor activities, and go on weekend camps and outings. Scouts and Explorer Scouts help the leaders run activities for the younger ones. If you would like more information about the group or you are interested in joining any of the sections below please click here or contact Denise or Paul Wilkins on 8944 8042 or email denise.wilkins@blueyonder.co.uk
